The mission of the TEXAS INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED DENTAL STUDIES is to drag dentistry out of the 19th century and into the 21st. Operative Dentistry as is it is currently being taught in most Dental Schools world wide is based on non-scientific technology first published in 1891!!! Since its inception in 1987, TIADS has galvanized a select group of dentists into a progressive, proactive force. Using Science to challenge the tradition-bound dental profession, these TIADS  trained dentists, trained in Scientific methods of treatment, are successfully changing the way dentistry is being practiced with life-long benefits for the patients these dentists are treating.

Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Rainey and TIADS, the Micro-Dentistry idea has caught on. The market is now--predictably--being flooded with machines claiming to be micro-air abrasion devices.

TIADS offers a word of warning: caveat emptor. "Many of these so-called air-abrasive units are substandard," cautions Dr. Rainey. "Some are a joke."

Dr. Rainey should know. He is recognized as the founding father of micro-air abrasion and is best known for helping to secure FDA approval of the technique.
